Did you know that many medical jobs in America are actually in dentistry? Of course, becoming a dentist isn’t easy, but the good news is that if you like teeth, it’s not difficult to get a “lesser” position in a dental practice at all. Not all dental jobs require a prior skill set, but you will most likely want to gain some training before you apply for dental jobs, as with any other profession. By the end of this article, you should have an understanding of what sort of dental jobs are available. Dental jobs actually have quite a bit in common with another medical job- Emergency Medicine Jobs. You may have to deal with the sight of blood during emergency treatments. Of course, there are Clerical Jobs available as well. So if blood does put you off but you would still like to work in a dental surgery, a clerical position may be better suited to you.

The dental assistant’s role is very common in the dental office. Your primary role in this position is to assist the dentist during cleanings, treatments and operations. Turning the room around for the next procedure will fall to you as well. You’ll have to organize relevant equipment, clean and tidy the office, and recycle stock. It is vital that dental assistants be fast workers and they have to be able to work on their own initiative sometimes too. While you will have many responsibilities, you will most likely have to deal with the sight of blood from time to time. You will be expected to gain proficiency with several pieces of equipment, used when you assist the dentist. Assistant is a vital role, and you will have to develop a variety of skills.

Typically the skills needed to become a dental assistant are being a quick worker and you may also need experience in various areas such as taking x-rays and being able to create temporary crowns. Even if you are lucky enough to find a dentists office willing to train you, you may require some advanced skills. The good news is that even if you don’t have experience, many dental offices will train you. The actual salary for dental assistants will vary depending upon the company hiring you. That’s because the role varies wildly from company to company.

Some require a lot more work than others. Another opportunity in the dental field is that of dental hygienist. Your job will be to assist with cleanings, making sure patients teeth and gums are as clean as possible. It will be your job to clean their teeth professionally and treat any ongoing infections. This position almost always requires a bachelor’s degree.

It should be obvious now that if you like teeth, there’s a job out there for you! Some positions will require more skills than others, but you will easily be able to find a role that fits you.
